Apply the line as thick as possible.
A circular saw with a masonry blade can also be used to either score or completely cut through the block.
Before you start saw cutting concrete is important to select where these cuts will be done.
If your cut doesn t need to be exact use a cold chisel and hand sledge to cut the concrete.
Check to make sure there are no electrical or plumbing lines running beneath the desired channel.
This is noisy and can be time consuming depending on the amount of steel.
Locate the area of the concrete floor where you would like to cut the channel.
Cutting hollow concrete block first score the line.
Apply the line as thick as possible.
Joints shall be spaced at 24 to 36 times the slab thickness but this need to be confirmed by a structural engineer.
Place joints under walls or under carpet areas.
In this video we are cutting concrete with a circular saw aka skil saw.
Set the diamond blade on the concrete wet saw to a depth of 4 1 2 inches and cut along both chalk lines.
Mark the places you want to cut on the concrete slab either using chalk line good for long straight edges or chalk.
Score the length of the cut three or four times with the chisel.
Cut joints deep enough cut joints 25 of the depth of the slab.
A 4 thick slab should have joints 1 deep.
Saw cutting cuts joints as soon as the concrete is hard enough that the edges abutting the cut don t chip from the saw blade.
It is recommended to start saw cuts on or at the center of column lines.
