Creating a mosaic table top.
You need to plan your mosaic.
Cut out backing material.
Begin by purchasing a 5 8 inch thick sheet of exterior plywood.

It is best to work from the outside and move inward.

Use scissors to cut around the edge of the table.
You need to cut your backing material in my case aluminium sheet to size.
Be sure to apply a little pressure to set the tiles.

Nail a strip of 1x2 lumber around the underside of the perimeter of the plywood.
Use tile nippers to trim tiles to fit as needed image 2.
Leave the table top sit in a dry area for at least 24 hours.
Smash your tiles into different shapes.
If the table doesn t have a lip then you will need to create your own.
Start by drawing a line through the center horizontally then one vertically.
Lay a large piece of butcher paper over the tabletop.

Cut the piece of paper in the shape of the table.

Secure the paper around the table s edges with tape.
Apply a thin layer of the tile glue to each tile using the old credit card or plastic card and place them on the tabletop.

This will create an edge to the new table top thick enough to support the back of the bull nose tile.
