Convert Kitchen Doors To Drawers

For the drawer slides start by removing the drawers and slides from the cabinet using the screwdriver.

You have to mount your slides on blocks or a strip of wood so the drawers will clear the door. Step 2 drill a starter hole with a 3 32 inch drill bit attached to the electric drill. Then remove the hinges from the door. More efficient to just pull out a drawer than open two doors and pull out a drawer.

The first step in the process of converting shelves to drawers is to remove the doors from the kitchen cabinet. You do lose space and you also will damage the back of the door from drawers scraping them if the doors are not open far enough which happens a lot. Open the cabinet door.

Opt for unfinished 15 or 18 inch cabinets fitted with doors and operable drawers not the fake drawer fronts used for sink cabinets and take a day to put all the pieces together. We were able to keep all the original doors intact by swapping in hinges with a wider door opening angle to give the drawers the freedom to pull out. Reinstall the cabinet door onto the cabinet and repeat this process for every cabinet door in the kitchen. As one of my customers put it it brings the contents of the cabinet to you instead of you having to go into the cabinet and scrounge around for them it s relatively easy to convert a cabinet from doors to drawers.

This is fairly easy just undo the screws that are holding the hinges onto the frame. We remove the center stile between the double doors to create the larger space for the deep drawers. Having kitchen cabinets from ikea made this conversion simple as we just had to invest in some rationell extending drawers. Next drill a small hole in the door using a self centering drill bit.
